The Magic of Alchemy

I will show you the power of the Sacred Light. The Book of Purifying Fire
Alchemy is an ancient discipline of transformation that has much in common with the yoga philosophies of the East. These spiritual paths deal with the Life Force energy in its cosmic and personal forms. On the personal level the Life Force energy is responsible for the health of the physical body. When the Life Force leaves the body the result is death. When it is reduced or constricted, disease and illnesses set in. Consequently, in the beginning stages of alchemy the focus is on increasing this energy in order to clear obstructions from the body and heal physical imbalances.
Alchemy can be defined as magical power applied to the process of transmutation. The magical power that is used in alchemy is the Life Force energy. To transmute is to change from one state or condition to another. Before one can apply the Life Force toward cleansing and the reestablishment of health, one must first increase this magical energy within the physical form. A diet of 100% living foods enables more Life Force energy to accumulate in the body, which initiates the process of cleansing and purification. Specific alchemical meditations and yoga practices will accelerate this healing process, speed reconstruction of the cells and organs of the body, and allow one to manifest his/her ideal physical form more rapidly.
In addition to the physical, mental, and emotional applications of alchemy, there are also specific practices that may lead to illumination, a profound spiritual transformation. As an outcome of alchemical practice, illumination refers to the power of spiritual light, and denotes the enhanced awareness, self-mastery, and keen perceptions that may be brought into being by the conscious use of this light. In all of these practices, the transformational work of alchemy involves accessing spiritual light with the body, mind and imagination. The light is used to create changes to the molecular and atomic structure of the physical being.
Like yoga, alchemical practices focus on opening and balancing the seven primary centers of force in the etheric body. These centers, known as the chakras in the East, are termed the seven interior stars or lamps by the alchemists. This terminology again points to the universal light as essential to alchemical work. The interior stars were named after the seven planets known to the ancients, and likened to seven metals with which the alchemists worked. In the process of alchemical self-transformation, the energy emanating from within the interior stars becomes more consistent and refined.
Over time the perfected alignment and high rate of vibration in the interior stars can establish physical and emotional well being, and may ultimately lead to the activation of deep intuition that serves as a source of preeminent knowledge and wisdom. The first result that occurs as the interior stars awaken is the healing and stabilization of the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of one’s being. The primary goal of alchemy is equilibration, a precise balancing of the mind, emotions, and body that leads to greater health and consciousness and a happier life.
In yoga the sacred light used in alchemy is called Kundalini, a Sanskrit word meaning coiled up or coiling like a snake. Alchemists likewise have called this force the serpent-power. This symbolic language refers to the Life Force energy, which lies coiled at the base of the spine, and remains dormant in most people. In both yoga and alchemy the sleeping serpent is awakened and raised step-by-step through the interior stars. This force moves upward as an undulating vibration, much like the slithering movement of a snake.
The serpent-power can be stimulated by being in the presence of an alchemical adept. An adept is one who has completed the Great Work of personal transformation, and is known as a yogi (male) or yogini (female) in the East. Activation of this force may also be accomplished alone using alchemical methods to open and clear the body, and engage the powers of the mind and imagination to activate and elevate this force.
The light of alchemy is also referred to as the essence of fire, which highlights the ability of the Life Force energy to burn away all that is not divine. This fiery force is engaged and supported in the physical body by the consumption of high-energy raw foods that stimulate the digestion and assimilation of greater nutrition, and the elimination of unwanted residues and toxins. This diet is one of the most important keys to equilibrating the body and perfecting the balance of the three primary actions in alchemy: creation, destruction, and renewal.
Some alchemical meditations make use of mental images of fiery light in order to access an internal vibratory heat that can incinerate conditioned beliefs, erroneous messages, and emotional attachments, and initiate a deep process of holistic regeneration. By applying the principles and methods of alchemy, the underlying pattern upon which the physical form is built is improved, allowing the positive changes that are introduced into the body by diet to be sustained, and creating a new foundation for future enhancements and regeneration.
