Nourished by Truth
The world in which we live is filled with light and shadow, the side effects of manifestation. One may either be an unconscious participant in the shadow play, or a seeker of the light of higher consciousness. Every human being contains varying degrees of both qualities within themselves.
Your physical form, the body that you as consciousness inhabit, also contains a mixture of shadow and light. The same is true for your mental and emotional bodies, from wherein powerful thought-forms are created and played out in one’s life. These thought forms are the concepts and beliefs that guide one’s actions and define oneself. In this way, one’s life unfolds in accordance with these underlying ideas about what is true.
This process happens in relative isolation, deep within the consciousness of each person. The nature of one’s own thought forms are influenced early in life by family, educational, religious and social conditioning. They are further developed by one’s emotional and mental reactions to the experiences, words and images that surround one in daily life.
Further impacts of the unconscious shadows within each person can be seen in humanity as a whole. This is a species that struggles onward acting as its own worst enemy. Its individual and composite members primarily exist in blindness to their conditioned states of being that result in illness, death, violence and pain.
Unchecked, the manifestations in human life that come from within this collective darkness may reach a point of great destruction and negativity. Then we will find that the balance must shift in order to maintain the equilibrium of the forces of creation. At such moments, a massive influx of light creations may sent forth into the world from those whose eyes are opened to the truth, and whose hearts are pure channels for divine love, forgiveness and compassion.
How can we be sure to be among those whose consciousness holds the most light? First, we must become emotionally, mentally and physically capable of withstanding the astral onslaught of obstructions and resistance that are provoked within the world of shadow whenever it is touched by greater light. We do this by our devotion to our daily spiritual practice and fellowship with others seeking to illuminate consciousness and increase their compassion and love.
We can look to the enlightened ones who have come before, faced the resistance and overcome all obstacles. In the Gospel of Philip, this disciple of Jesus taught:
“The world is a corpse-eater. All the things eaten in it (the world), themselves die also. Truth is a life-eater. Therefore, no one nourished by truth will die. It was from that place (truth) that Jesus came and brought food. To those who so desired, he gave life, that they might not die.”
We must be sure to feast daily on truth. That truth is unity, not duality; love, not hate; life, not death. Philip also taught that as we clothe ourselves in the “perfect light”, we are promised divine protection from all darkness and shadow. As one continues to focus on true spiritual evolution, the world becomes the “eternal realm…revealed…,not hidden in the darkness and the night, but…a perfect day and a holy light.”
Go within. Turn the light upon your inner consciousness first, and clear away old shadowy beliefs and conditioned reactions that do not serve your true Self. Increase the light and share it with others through love, compassion, service and humility. Don’t hesitate to stand up as a part of the light of truth whenever it is called for in this shadowy world. Join your light with others and increase the illumination of the world.
