Feeding the Spirit
Food, by which I mean pure and natural plants, was given as a gift to humanity by the one creator. It not only nourishes the body, it is also the supreme medicine for all illness and disease. Awareness of the sacred power of natural living foods is enhanced by consciously connecting with the earth. Yes, it is important to eat the life-giving raw foods, but it is perhaps more important to actually feel your oneness with the earth from where this nourishment comes.
Spend time in nature, away from cities and crowds. Eat outdoors whenever possible. Grow your own food in whatever way you can. Meditate and consciously give thanks for the life-force that you are about to receive before you eat any food. The plants of the earth are divine alchemical agents that transmute sunlight, seed, soil and water into superior human nutrition. When you realize the vast intelligence and perfection that created this food, your relationship with food and with life will become an endless blessing. As you transcend previously held beliefs about food, you begin the journey to true self-knowledge and spiritual awakening.
It is miraculous the way that raw foods came into my life. These foods are divine energy dressed in vivid colors and brilliant shapes and forms. Long before this wisdom was revealed to me, I had begun an earnest quest to attain communion with my soul. On the first day of what would become many years of intensive spiritual transformation, I spontaneously became a vegetarian. Some modern esoteric leaders, including Rudolf Steiner, foretold a time when all of humanity would eat only plant foods as a consequence of our ongoing spiritual progression. As I continued through the years of spiritual practice, I saw the truth of this as my diet naturally evolved to include an abundance of living foods.
Subtle states of consciousness cannot be fully anchored into the body when dense foods are being consumed. In a complementary fashion, the experience of an exalted state of awareness leaves one desiring only natural foods. For me it was this miraculous awakening that caused raw foods to appear in my life as cooked foods faded away. I then began to explore long fasting in earnest, and was soon permanently transformed.
Which came first? The enlightenment or the light? The enlightenment comes from the desire for the soul, and the light is in the plants. With raw food and spiritual practice, body and mind are united in bliss. This is the first miracle. Many others occur as greater light flows into the body-mind from every direction. As the natural merges with the supernatural, miracles become an inherent part of life.
